Coronado
Point
This project was originally planned as the second and third
phases of The Landing condominium project on the Coronado side
of San Diego harbor. The Landing condominiums had experienced
a slow rate of sales and the majority of the condominiums did
not take advantage of the views of the harbor. It was also architecturally
designed to replicate the famous Hotel Del Coronado.

When FDC acquired the project, we decided to dramatically change
yet complement the appearance of the original Landing building.
By reducing the yield from 92 to 80 condominiums, the new design
allowed the homes to take advantage of the view of the harbor
and the San Diego skyline. After the original submittal for
permit, there was considerable concern from neighbors that the
two additional buildings would not mimic the existing building.
FDC withdrew the submittal, conducted numerous and extensive
meetings with the City of Coronado residents, and eventually
met with success. However, the timing of these delays coincided
with the declining financial situation in Southern California,
forcing FDC to sell the project to a Japanese developer. The
two additional buildings were successfully completed with all
FDC design specifications intact.
